To celebrate Vierne’s 150th anniversary, seven AGOHK members have come together to perform a virtual concert, recorded from over the world. Linked here is the complete recording:
On 21st November, 26 arrived at the chapel of Tang Shiu Kin Secondary School for AGOHK’s Conducting Masterclass 2020. Ivan Leung, Chere Ko, and Kenneth Ma conducted a program of Rutter, Faure, and Mawby, as Felix Yeung gave hands-on advice on the intricacies of choral conducting. Jonathan Yip accompanied on the organ as a volunteer choir sang.
Not to be missed: the Hong Kong Chapter of the American Guild of Organists is organising a Choral Conducting Masterclass.
Details are as below:
Date: 21st November, 2020 (Saturday)
Time: 10.30am to 12:30pm
Venue: 6/F Chapel, HKSKH Tang Shiu Kin Secondary School (9 Oi Kwan Road, Wanchai)
Speaker: Mr Felix Yeung (Provincial Music Director, Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui; Director of Music, St John’s Cathedral)
The masterclass will provide a platform for conductors from churches or schools to work with a small octet on a simple piece of no more than 5 minutes in duration. Conducting techniques, rehearsal skills and interpretation will be the major topics of discussion.
We are now opening up a quota of 4 conductors (must be an AGOHK member in good standing) for podium time. We also welcome observers to attend the masterclass. Should you be interested in either of these, please fill in the sign-up sheet below. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Conducting in this Choral Conducting Masterclass must be our AGOHK member in good standing.

The American Guild of Organists is thrilled to announce the first online OrganFest, which will take place July 20-24. Each evening’s broadcast will premiere a new work which had been commissioned for the 2020 National Convention in Atlanta, accompanied by interviews with the composers.
Featured performers will be Jens Korndörfer, Amanda Mole, Alan Morrison, Thomas Ospital, and Catherine Rodland. Additional recorded performances by recent international organ competition winners will be presented, and short presentations will share exciting news and updates from the AGO.
The daily YouTube premiere (8pm Eastern) and accompanying Festival website will be available at no charge.
OrganFest 2020 promises to be an exciting way to showcase our beloved instrument and the great work of the AGO. Please share this information widely with your music-loving friends.
While we are saddened by the cancellation of many musical events this spring and summer, including our National Convention in Atlanta, we look forward to celebrating the future of organ music together online next month.
