SUMMER ORGAN ACADEMY – Aug 22-29
Hong Kong Chapter of the American Guild of Organists Presents
SUMMER ORGAN ACADEMY
Join us for the fun to explore the “King of Instruments”.
This week-long summer organ day camp is a hands-on introduction to the pipe organ designed for participants aged 13-18.
The camp will include:
– Daily organ lessons (group of 4) on pipe organs
– Daily practice time allocated to each participant
– Workshops on a variety of topics, including an introduction to the mechanism of a pipe organ
– Visits to area pipe organs
– Organ concerts
– Final student recital
The Summer Organ Academy is for you if you …
– would like to learn to play the organ, “The King of Instruments”
– want to learn how a pipe organ works
– have already developed basic keyboard skills
– want to improve your organ technique
– want to meet other young people with similar musical interests
– want to be inspired
Opening Ceremony:
22nd, August 2017, 2:30pm – 4pm
Final student recital:
29th August 2017, 8:00pm

Choral Conducting Masterclass – 27 May,2017
Time: 11.00am to 1.00pm
Venue: 6/F Chapel, HKSKH Tang Shiu Kin Secondary School (9 Oi Kwan Road, Wanchai)
Speaker: Mr Felix Yeung (Provincial Music Director, Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui; Director of Music, St John’s Cathedral)
The masterclass will provide a platform for conductors from churches or schools to work with a small octet on a simple piece of no more than 5 minutes in duration. Conducting techniques, rehearsal skills and interpretation will be the major topics of discussion.
We are now opening up a quota of 4 conductors for podium time. We also welcome observers to attend the masterclass. Should you be interested in either of these, please fill in the sign-up sheet below.
Recap (Oct 2016): Dedication Concert and Workshop of Fisk Organ in Opus 149
Members of the AGO Hong Kong Chapter were opened to an opportunity to a dedication concert of Fisk Organ in Opus 149.
The event was co-organized by Sheng Kung Hui Tang Shiu Kin Secondary School.
The organ was built by organ builder Steven Dieck, a representative and board member of C.B. Fisk in Asia. The dedication concerts on Oct 1 and Oct 3 were performed by Jennifer Chou, Director of Music at Toorak Uniting Church. The workshop on Oct 5 was conducted by Steven Dieck. The event was joined by over 200 local organists and students.
